Postpartum Doula

IMG_1676-2

As a postpartum doula I provide evidenced based information on things such as infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, mother–baby attachment, infant cues and signals, and basic newborn care. As a postpartum doula, I am available to support families in the first 8 weeks with their new baby.

A postpartum doula:

  • Is knowledgeable of newborn characteristics and trained in their care, development, and feeding
  • Helps promote parent/infant attachment
  • Works to create an environment where the mother can rest, shower, eat, and take better care of herself, so she can take better care of her baby
  • Offers education, companionship and nonjudgmental support during the postpartum fourth trimester by assisting with newborn care, family adjustment, meal preparation and light household tidying
  • Offers evidence-based information on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, infant cues, and coping skills for new parents, and makes appropriate referrals when necessary

My postpartum services include helping families with:

  • Breastfeeding
  • Postpartum nutrition
  • Reading baby’s cues and signals and how best to respond
  • Bonding and attachment
  • Nursery organizing
  • Newborn body care: Diapering, dressing, and bathing
  • Sibling Relationships
  • Time management for you and your family
  • Referrals for community support and professionals

Postpartum support is $50 an hour, with discounted multi-hour packages available.  Additional discounts for combined services (like postpartum and birth doula support) are available.
